About the Role

The Senior IT Data Engineer at Qualcomm designs and develops software across the stack for web applications and engineering tools, including programming at the data layer, integration layer, API layer, and UI layer. The role involves managing and tracking the software development process from development to production release in collaboration with other IT teams, focusing on engineering-related systems, integrations, APIs, and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, code and maintain systems to support the Analytics Infrastructure & Data Lake.
Partner and contribute on analytics requests and perform statistical data analysis as needed.
Develop and operate data pipelines and associated processes.
Research and develop efficient, scalable, resilient, self-healing, and reusable data engineering solutions.
Design data recovery, reconciliation, and data life-cycle management processes.
Collaborate with a global team on projects and operations.
Participate in performance tuning efforts at code and infrastructure levels.
Build data quality processes within pipelines.

Requirements

3+ years of IT-relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems) or 5+ years of IT-relevant work experience without a Bachelor's degree.
3+ years of experience with Full-stack Application Development (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
1+ year of experience with Data Structures, algorithms, and data stores.

Nice to Have

5+ years of prior experience in Data Engineering and Databases.
5+ years of Python programming experience.
Experience with ETL frameworks like Airflow, Dagster.
Experience with Apache Spark (PySpark), Apache Beam, and relevant Big Data processing frameworks.
Experience with system integration and real-time data pipelines using Kafka, Red Panda.
4+ years of experience developing with GCP (BigQuery, PubSub, DataProc).
Experience in advanced SQL using MPP databases like Clickhouse and administration.
Experience creating data catalogs for Data Lakes.
Proven track record of coding in a multi-developer environment with code collaboration and reviews.
Exposure to other programming languages like Rust, C++.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems) with 3+ years of relevant experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
Experience with full-stack application development and data structures.
