About the Role

The Senior Leader, Data Analytics Engineering (Distinguished Engineer role equivalent), within the Advanced Analytics Office (AAO) at Western Digital, is responsible for accelerating enterprise-wide Data and Analytics solutions. This role involves leading technology direction, developing enterprise architecture, and enabling a connected enterprise through innovative data platforms, AI/ML technologies, and cloud-native applications. The position requires a strategic, hands-on leader to collaborate across business functions and IT to drive digital transformation, improve operational efficiency, and create competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technology direction with a focus on business outcomes.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends, and recommend adoption strategies.
  • Collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, and stakeholders to develop architectural strategies for an end-to-end connected enterprise.
  • Develop and champion enterprise architecture that enhances technology, applications, data & analytics, and security posture.
  • Ensure enterprise architecture modernization aligns with strategic goals and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Champion and execute initiatives for business agility, including promoting Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
  • Develop and implement an API strategy aligned with business objectives, including API governance and security standards.
  • Build cloud-native applications leveraging cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and microservices architecture.
  • Promote the use of open-source software and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Prioritize user experience by involving users in solution design, usability testing, and iterative feedback.
  • Partner with sales and business units to explore new opportunities such as monetizing APIs, API marketplaces, and subscription models.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or applied Sciences (desirable).
  • Proven experience in technology leadership roles with successful implementation of technology strategies.
  • 15+ years of experience in building scalable platforms supporting complex cross-functional processes and API economy expansion.
  • Understanding of cross-functional business processes such as Design to Build, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, etc.
  • Experience partnering with enterprise business functions like Finance, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Procurement.
  • Extensive technical knowledge in IT systems, software development, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and data & analytics technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java, Ruby), API protocols (REST, SOAP, GraphQL), and API management tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum), DevOps practices, and security best practices.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with artificial intelligence, IoT, Gen AI, and emerging data technologies.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data governance, and data integration principles.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific technologies and trends.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field (preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in scalable platform development and API economy support.
  • Experience enabling cross-functional enterprise applications and processes.
