Key Responsibilities

  • Using SQL to conduct exploratory empirical analyses that bridge disparate data sources to quantify product performance, user behavior, and market trends, distilling unstructured 'big data' into actionable insights.
  • Creatively compress high-level exploratory requests into specific calculations that address stakeholders' underlying needs.
  • Dig into data beyond initial assignments, consulting with teams to resolve anomalies or explore relevant issues.
  • Escalate and automate analyses using R/Python scripting.
  • Advise on A/B experimentation, including data points to collect, sample sizes, metrics, robustness, and success evaluation.
  • Provide technical guidance on improving A/B testing tools, algorithms, and automation processes.
  • Conduct research on latest trends in A/B experimentation and suggest internal improvements.
  • Advocate for data-driven product innovations in partnership with Product/Engineering teams.
  • Participate in brainstorming and planning discussions to support organizational goals.
  • Challenge flawed proposals tactfully and persuasively.
  • Develop and refine metrics that define business success, translating abstract concepts into concrete calculations.
  • Audit and improve existing metrics to better meet business needs.
  • Build intuitive dashboards and visual monitoring tools for decision-making by senior stakeholders.
  • Experiment with new visualization techniques and rework visualization code as needed.
  • Communicate complex quantitative findings clearly to leadership, emphasizing key takeaways.
  • Respond to follow-up questions from senior decision-makers with clarity and insight.
  • Conceive and build automated data assets and transformations (e.g., via DBT, LookML).
  • Partner with Data Engineering to optimize data modeling and architecture, fixing bottlenecks in large datasets.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree with 4+ years of experience in analytics or related fields involving complex data modeling, quantitative analysis, and applied statistics.
  • 2+ years of experience communicating analysis results to leadership to influence strategy.
  • Expert fluency in SQL; strong background in R or Python is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of core statistical concepts such as regression, significance testing, and bias.
  • Ability to create creative data visualizations.
  • Willingness to generate novel ideas and challenge others' ideas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable presenting to senior leadership.
  • Strong project planning skills, including building roadmaps, estimating resources, and managing dependencies.
  • Preferred tools include Snowflake, Snowplow, DBT, Looker, Jira, Salesforce, Google/MS suite.

Nice to Have

  • Strong background with either R or Python.
  • Experience with tools such as Snowflake, Snowplow, DBT, Looker, Jira, Salesforce, Google/MS suite.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in analytics or related field.
  • Experience with complex data modeling, quantitative analysis, and applied statistics.
  • 2+ years of experience communicating analysis results to leadership.
  • Expert in SQL; proficiency in R or Python.
