About the Role

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The role focuses on bringing multimodal AI capabilities to enterprise customers and developers, with an emphasis on Gemini multimodal quality, live APIs, and platforms. The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges across various industries, aiming to push the state-of-the-art in AI and collaborate with product teams to deliver real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
5 years of experience with state of the art GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) or with GenAI-related concepts (language modeling, computer vision).

Nice to Have

Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
Experience on leading quality and feature development workstreams to bring AI capabilities into successful production.
Experience with ML infrastructure and framework, and ML platform.
Knowledge in generative AI, multi-modal models, computer vision, video and audio understanding.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.

Benefits & Perks

US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
