About the Role

The Senior Technical Leader Software Engineer role at Cisco Silicon One involves working within a team focused on ASIC design and next-generation network device development for the AI/ML era. The position is onsite in San Jose, CA, and offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative silicon products, collaborate with internal and external teams, and support Cisco's infrastructure solutions in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within a stable corporate setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and debug Cisco's next-generation Silicon One Software.
  • Interact and work closely with Cisco System product development teams to develop and debug datapath applications.
  • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and customers to develop, debug, and support Silicon One software.
  • Drive system integration and testing across hardware and software components.
  • Work on networking protocols for switch/router and infrastructure products.
  • Modify and add new software enhancements to improve system capabilities.
  • Contribute to testing and debugging to ensure system and solution quality.
  • Translate ASIC architecture knowledge to product development teams.
  • Provide guidance and support, including documentation, for Silicon One customers.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation infrastructure products.
  • Develop, implement, and automate automated regression test suites and test cases.
  • Assist customers with integrating Silicon One Software into their NOS environment and provide ongoing support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in EE/CS with 12+ years of related experience or Master of Science in EE/CS with 8+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in software development and integration using C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with L2/L3 networking, forwarding protocols, and platform solutions.
  • Experience developing and debugging in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with system-wide development, testing, and debugging.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with VLAN or VXLAN.
  • Understanding/Experience of SAI.
  • Knowledge of Layer-1 Ports (MAC, Serdes, PTP) and error handling in software, traffic management.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools, especially Jenkins setup and pipeline management.
  • Experience setting up and managing Jenkins for building software and automated testing.
