The role of Senior Software Engineer 4 in the Monetization Team involves developing innovative pricing and monetization solutions, working on complex, scalable systems that support major clients and drive PagerDuty's growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, and ship microservices and user interfaces that power new pricing platforms, ensuring solutions are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Work across both backend and frontend systems to deliver impactful software.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers across teams, owning and operating what is built.
  • Work on systems managing millions of dollars of revenue, developing features to improve pricing, checkout, licensing, and billing systems.
  • Solve technical challenges related to scaling the product for a growing customer base of over 15,000 global customers.
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with product, design, finance, and other teams to ensure platform meets business and customer needs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of development experience overall.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Ruby on Rails, Phoenix/Elixir, React, or willingness to learn and adapt to the tech stack.
  • Experience working on customer-facing, web-based systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing, building, and operating large systems with scalability, availability, and performance requirements.
  • Experience working in an agile environment with iterative development and fast feedback.
  • Experience with tools that ensure high-quality, automated, and repeatable deployment processes.
  • Experience working in a global distributed environment.
