About the Role

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The role involves working on specific projects critical to Google's needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products, focusing on design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure to drive innovation and technical excellence across the company.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy robust, scalable software solutions specifically focused on automating content removal verdicts.
Implement and optimize advanced systems that utilize business rules, Large Language Models (LLMs), and intelligent escalation mechanisms for human review to process content removal requests efficiently.
Write high-quality, maintainable code primarily in Kotlin and C++, contributing to the team's shared codebase and infrastructure.
Contribute significantly to the technical design and architecture of new features and improvements for our global content removal infrastructure.
Identify and address performance bottlenecks, system reliability issues, and ensure the ongoing security and scalability of the content removal platforms.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining back-end services.
2 years of experience directly engaged with a software development team developing and reviewing technical requirements, design documents, conducting bug triage, setting technical goals.

Nice to Have

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems, and data analysis.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
Experience in front-end technologies (e.g., TypeScript, Angular).
Experience in code and system health, bug diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
Experience programming in Kotlin.

Qualifications

Educational background including a Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's or PhD preferred).

Benefits & Perks

US base salary range of $141,000-$202,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, with individual pay influenced by work location, skills, experience, and education.
