About the Role

We're looking for a strategic and technical SEO leader who's passionate about organic growth, automation, and the evolving role of AI in search. As our SEO Strategist, you'll lead performance across multiple client accounts while experimenting with the latest innovations like AI-generated content, prompt testing, and knowledge embedding. You'll own everything from deep technical audits and structured data to high-level experimentation and cross-channel collaboration. This role starts as part-time with the potential to grow into a full-time position based on performance, impact, and alignment. FatCat Strategies is a Raleigh-based full-service marketing agency specializing in home improvement companies, with over 20 years of helping clients achieve their marketing goals and control costs. The culture is casual and supportive, with a focus on client success and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Drive SEO Results Across Client Accounts by leading SEO strategy, execution, and optimization, monitoring KPIs such as organic traffic, keyword rankings, visibility, and lead volume, and overseeing both technical and content-driven SEO initiatives.
Innovate and Experiment with AI & SEO by testing prompt engineering, embedding knowledge, analyzing featured snippets and AI summaries, exploring non-traditional search spaces, running structured SEO experiments, and leveraging automation tools like Make.com.
Communicate SEO Changes and Insights by updating on algorithm shifts, AI developments, new tools, and turning insights into actionable strategies for the team and clients, as well as contributing to reporting and transparency.
Lead Technical SEO for Clients through deep-dive audits, optimizing Core Web Vitals, structured data, site architecture, schema markup, and collaborating with developers and designers to ensure technical excellence.
Scale SEO Operations by building efficient systems and workflows using automation, maintaining documentation, templates, and SOPs.
Develop Team Knowledge by establishing an internal SEO knowledge base, contributing to training, leading QA initiatives, and supporting feedback loops for SEO quality.
Support Internal Marketing by maintaining and optimizing the internal site, managing lead data flows, automated reporting, and contributing SEO insights to content marketing efforts.

Requirements

3-5 years of experience in SEO with technical, content, and strategic depth.
Proficiency in SEO tools: Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, GSC, Looker Studio, Google Analytics.
Technical SEO expertise, especially in WordPress environments.
Strong fluency in schema markup and structured data implementation.
Familiarity with embedding concepts, chunk analysis, and prompt testing.
Bonus: experience with LLM-powered tools, GPT APIs, and AI-influenced search behavior.
A builder mindset; self-directed, curious, and systems-oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
