About the Role

We're looking for a strategic and technical SEO leader who's passionate about organic growth, automation, and the evolving role of AI in search. As our SEO Strategist, you'll lead performance across multiple client accounts while experimenting with the latest innovations like AI-generated content, prompt testing, and knowledge embedding. You'll own everything from deep technical audits and structured data to high-level experimentation and cross-channel collaboration. This role starts as part-time with the potential to grow into a full-time position based on performance, impact, and alignment. The company, FatCat Strategies, is a Raleigh-based full-service marketing agency specializing in home improvement companies, with a casual and supportive culture focused on helping clients succeed and fostering team growth.

Key Responsibilities

Drive SEO Results Across Client Accounts by leading strategy, execution, and optimization, monitoring KPIs such as organic traffic, keyword rankings, visibility, and lead volume, and overseeing technical and content-driven SEO initiatives.
Innovate and Experiment with AI & SEO by testing prompt engineering, embedding knowledge, analyzing SERP features, exploring non-traditional search spaces, running structured experiments, and leveraging automation tools like Make.com.
Communicate SEO Changes and Insights by updating on algorithm shifts, AI developments, new tools, and translating insights into actionable strategies for the team and clients, including contributing to reporting.
Lead Technical SEO for Clients through deep technical audits, especially for WordPress sites, optimizing Core Web Vitals, structured data, site architecture, schema markup, and collaborating with developers and designers.
Scale SEO Operations by building efficient systems and workflows, maintaining documentation, templates, and SOPs.
Develop Team Knowledge by establishing an internal SEO knowledge base, supporting training, QA initiatives, and feedback loops.
Support Internal Marketing by maintaining and optimizing the internal site, managing lead data flows, automated reporting, and contributing SEO insights to content marketing efforts.

Requirements

3-5 years of experience in SEO with technical, content, and strategic depth.
Proficiency in SEO tools: Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, GSC, Looker Studio, Google Analytics.
Technical SEO expertise, especially in WordPress environments.
Strong fluency in schema markup and structured data implementation.
Experience in Generative Engine Optimization + AI LLM-powered tools, GPT APIs, and AI-influenced search behavior.
Familiarity with embedding concepts, chunk analysis, and prompt testing.
A builder mindset; self-directed, curious, and systems-oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Work location: Hybrid in Raleigh, NC, with on-site presence required initially.

Nice to Have

Experience with AI-generated content and prompt testing.
Knowledge of automation tools like Make.com.
Understanding of emerging SERP experiences such as featured snippets and AI summaries.
