Social Media Intern

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Support social media content creation, photography, videography, and other communications duties in collaboration with the university's Communications team.
• Shoot and edit short videos and Reels for UM-Dearborn social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, focusing on student stories.
• Take photographs for social media and other university needs.
• Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to produce graphics using Canva and written content for social media channels including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok.
• Help organize student social media takeovers.
• Select and resize photos for Reporter (faculty/staff enews), social media, and other needs.
• Assist staff photographer with photo shoots, including scheduling assistance.
• Upload, organize, and tag photos in the university's photo library.
• Pull and analyze social media metrics to assess content performance.

Requirements

• Candidates must be a current UM-Dearborn student.
• Communication, English, Journalism, or Marketing majors are likely a good fit, but students in other majors with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
• Must be willing to appear in photos/video on UM-Dearborn's social media.
• Basic photography and social media experience is necessary.
• Experience with Canva and video/video editing is a plus, but a willingness to learn is acceptable.
• Reliable, good communicator, well organized, and able to work independently.
• An overall passion for UM-Dearborn and a tie to the pulse of student life on campus.

• Experience with Canva and video/video editing.

• Current enrollment as a UM-Dearborn student.
