Job Description

About the Role

This is a 4-5 month temporary position supporting community management and community engagement strategy for the company's flagship social media accounts, with a focus on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The role involves developing social content, managing the editorial calendar, and collaborating enterprise-wide to ensure growth in key social media metrics, in line with overall goals. The position reports to the Sr. Director, Social Media and Content Integration, and prefers someone in the D.C. office 2-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic guidance on social media content tied to issue areas and enterprise strategy priorities.
  • Supports and manages the development and implementation of social media content, from initial concept to publishing content on social platforms.
  • Manages day-to-day relationships with internal business units, including Editorial, Studios, Strategic Communications, and External Relations teams.
  • Provides valuable strategic recommendations, shares ideas, opportunities, and best practices regularly.
  • Stays current on industry trends and technological developments, applying thought leadership to social media initiatives.
  • Drafts and reviews social copy that effectively communicates and engages audiences across multiple platforms.
  • Coordinates with creative teams (in-house and agency) on the development of engaging social media content.
  • Maintains the brand voice on established and emerging social platforms.
  • Drives brand equity and supports the organization's mission on social media channels.
  • Engages prospects, members, and influencers, and regularly reports on progress.
  • Grows key metrics and provides reporting aligned with social media goals and strategy.
  • Analyzes content performance and offers guidance to improve community engagement.
  • Collaborates with the social response/customer care team on community management and engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related discipline.
  • 5-7 years of experience managing social media platforms for various clients at an agency or large organization.
  • Strong ability to manage and implement social content strategy and engage/grow communities.
  • Deep expertise in social media copywriting for large organizations and/or brands.
  • Ability to use data, analytics, and audience metrics to measure and drive growth.
  • Mastery of third-party scheduling tools such as Sprinklr, Hootsuite, Spredfast, and project management tools like AirTable or Asana.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including listening, negotiating, facilitating, managing conflict, and flexibility.
  • Strong understanding of social communication platforms and organizational politics.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Strong time management skills and passion for creating engaging social media content.

  • Experience with community engagement and client relationship development.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and technological developments in social media.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related discipline.
