About the Role

The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for managing and growing Central Health's presence on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, and X, or any platforms that might emerge, and managing other digital channels including email newsletters and online communities to amplify longer-form storytelling and messaging. This role will focus on increasing community awareness, engagement, and trust in Central Health's mission to improve access to health care for Travis County residents with low income. The position involves creating accessible and engaging content for diverse audiences, working in an approved on-site location with the flexibility to work remotely one day a week, and occasionally outside normal hours and on weekends. The role is part of a diverse and dynamic communications team dedicated to connecting with and informing the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an integrated digital strategy, including social media and email newsletters, aligned with Central Health's mission and communication goals.
  • Evolve and maintain Central Health's unique voice across all social media platforms.
  • Manage day-to-day content creation, posting, and monitoring for Central Health's social media platforms.
  • Manage ongoing creation, distribution, and monitoring of email newsletters to diverse audiences.
  • Craft compelling and informative content that includes written copy, graphics, and videos to engage diverse audiences, including patients, partners, employees, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with translators and cultural liaisons to ensure messaging is inclusive and effectively reaches non-English-speaking communities.
  • Manage online communities.
  • Analyze digital metrics and generate regular reports on performance, trends, and areas for improvement to inform ongoing digital strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams throughout Central Health, including the Office of the CEO, to ensure messaging is consistent, accurate, and reflective of Central Health's services and initiatives.
  • Stay informed on social media trends, best practices, and industry developments to enhance strategy and content.
  • Work with external partners, including local healthcare organizations, media outlets, and community groups, to amplify key messages.
  • Support crisis communication efforts by coordinating timely and appropriate messaging across platforms.
  • Monitor and interact appropriately with online audiences, fostering meaningful engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (higher degree accepted) in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field, or 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience creating real-time content using all available communications channels including web, TV, and social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, plus emerging platforms).
  • Proficiency with industry-standard social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social) and analytics platforms.
  • Core graphic design and video editing skills (e.g., CapCut, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Experience working both independently and collaboratively in a complex, fast-paced industry.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and the ability to moderate user-generated content for appropriateness and organizational policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across departments.
  • Ability to manage editorial calendars and email newsletter schedules ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content.
  • Familiarity with content management platforms (e.g., Sprout Social) and tools for scheduling and distributing social content.
  • Critical thinking skills to address challenges, analyze feedback, and implement effective solutions.
