Job Description

About the Role

As a Software Engineer in Corporate Technology at Prudential, you will partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, engineers, and delivery professionals to improve financial reporting applications and dashboards. You will code, test, and debug new and existing applications, implement capabilities to solve sophisticated business problems, deploy innovative products, services, and experiences for the Finance and Actuarial community. The role also offers opportunities to engineer data pipelines and build dashboards using various business intelligence tools, contributing to digital transformation within a leading financial services institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build front-end applications ensuring that the code follows latest coding practices and standards
  • Use programming languages including but not limited to Python, Java, or JavaScript and frameworks such as React, Springboot, Node.js
  • Engineer data pipelines and dashboards using Power BI, Oracle BI, and Essbase reporting tools
  • Collaborate with product owners to understand needs and define feature stories
  • Work with tech leads to define technical design
  • Understand the system end-to-end with team members
  • Write unit, integration tests, and functional automation
  • Research problems discovered by quality assurance or product support and develop solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes for making sound decisions in the company's business context
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript
  • Experience working in distributed systems, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and design methodology
  • Experience with Java services using Spring CLI
  • Familiarity with frameworks like React, Springboot, Node.js, and stacks such as Full / MEAN / MERN
  • Knowledge of relational data structures and SQL
  • Understanding of Business Intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar
  • Experience with API consumption and development, service-oriented architecture (SOA), REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, JDBC, MySQL
  • Knowledge of automated testing, unit, interface, and end-user testing concepts and tooling
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Subversion, Jenkins
  • Familiarity with AWS core services including S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, and ECS/Fargate

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
