About the Role

Software Engineering Intern at ZEISS, a global company with over 177 years of experience in science and technology. The internship offers hands-on experience in software development, focusing on languages such as C#, C++, and Python, with opportunities to assist in AI integration and evaluation. The role is based in Dublin, CA, requiring in-office presence until trained, and is designed for a 6-month period to support the company's diverse portfolios across industrial quality, medical technology, consumer markets, and semiconductor manufacturing technology.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze existing codebases and identify areas for improvement.
Implement best practices to enhance code readability, maintainability, and performance.
Collaborate with team members to design, develop, and implement new features.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to enhance product functionality.
Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
Assist in the development of automated testing frameworks.
Assist in the integration of AI agents into development environments.
Evaluate various AI agents and tools to determine their effectiveness and applicability within projects.
Conduct performance assessments and provide feedback on AI capabilities.
Work closely with senior developers and team members to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Requirements

Currently pursuing or recently obtained a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C#, C++, or Python.
Basic understanding of software development principles and methodologies.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

Qualifications

Pursuing or recently obtained a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
