About the Role

The Software Engineering Technical Leader role at Cisco Silicon One involves working within a team dedicated to developing next-generation silicon products and software for high-speed networking infrastructure. The position is onsite in San Jose, CA, and offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative hardware and software solutions in a startup-like environment within a stable, leading tech company focused on AI/ML era network devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and debug Cisco's next-generation Silicon One software.
  • Interact and work closely with Cisco system product development teams to develop and debug datapath applications.
  • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and customers to develop, debug, and support Silicon One software.
  • Drive system integration and testing across hardware and software components.
  • Work on networking protocols for switch/router and infrastructure products.
  • Modify and add new software enhancements to improve product capabilities.
  • Contribute to testing and debugging to ensure system and solution quality.
  • Translate ASIC architecture knowledge to product development teams.
  • Provide guidance and support, including documentation, for Silicon One customers.
  • Develop automated regression test suites and create new test cases.
  • Assist customers with integrating Silicon One Software into their NOS environment and provide ongoing support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in EE/CS with 8+ years of related experience or Master of Science in EE/CS with 6+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in software development and integration using C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with L2/L3 networking and forwarding protocols (bridges/routers).
  • Experience developing and debugging in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with system-wide development, testing, and debugging.

Nice to Have

  • Working knowledge of GDB/PDB and debugging application and kernel drivers.
  • Expertise in BGP, ECMP, and ACL scalability and performance evaluation.
  • Experience with traffic generators such as IXIA or Spirent.
  • Experience with VLAN or VXLAN.
  • Understanding or experience with SAI.
