About the Role

The Spring 2026 Account Analyst Intern - Revenue position is within Norfolk Southern's Revenue Accounting Operations group in Atlanta, GA. Interns are responsible for managing accounts receivable, serving as primary contacts for customers, and supporting revenue protection efforts. The role involves analyzing invoicing accuracy, building customer relationships, identifying process improvements, and collaborating with internal departments and other railroads. This internship provides hands-on experience in railroad revenue operations and customer service within a major transportation company.

Key Responsibilities

Verify the accuracy of Norfolk Southern invoicing for revenue earned from rail operations.
Build relationships through exceptional customer service.
Identify process improvements for billing and collections issues and collaborate with other departments to test and implement enhancements.
Utilize analytical tools to identify trends related to traffic, customers, invoices, and payments.
Interact with internal departments such as Transportation and Marketing, as well as other railroads, to research and resolve disputes.
Provide comprehensive updates to management and stakeholders regarding customers' accounts.
Actively participate in own professional development as guided by management.

Requirements

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree, with preferred majors including Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, or similar fields.
In-depth knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software.
Availability to work full-time during regular business hours during the internship period.
Candidates enrolled part-time in classes that do not interfere with a typical business day schedule.
Self-starter with a strong desire to learn railroad operations.
Critical thinker and problem solver.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Ability to manage time, plan, and prioritize work demands effectively.
Positive and professional attitude.

Nice to Have

Experience with analytical tools for trend analysis.

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field.

Bi-weekly compensation scaled by academic year, e.g., $1,646 for Freshman Year, up to $2,383 for Masters Year.
Hybrid work environment: three days in the office and two days remote.
