Sr Data Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines using cloud-based technologies in Google Cloud Platform.
• Create complex ETL/ELT processes using PySpark to transform and process data.
• Develop data warehousing and data lake solutions, including schema design, data modeling, and optimization using Snowflake and Databricks platforms.
• Build data visualizations and dashboards using Tableau, ThoughtSpot, PowerBI, and MicroStrategy to support business intelligence and analytics.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and deliver high-quality data solutions.
• Apply basic machine learning concepts to support advanced data processing and analytics.
• Ensure data security, compliance, and governance in all data engineering processes.
• Lead technical reviews, provide guidance to junior engineers, and contribute to the team’s technical strategy.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and cloud computing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 3 years of related experience and 1 year of IT-related experience in the retail pet supply industry.
• 18 months of demonstrated experience with data engineering, modeling, and optimization using Snowflake and large-scale data processing using SQL.
• 18 months of experience with data warehousing concepts, including ETL/ELT processes, schema design, data modeling, and visualizations with tools like Tableau, ThoughtSpot, and Power BI.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and JIRA Scrum tool.
• Experience with GitHub version control system.

Nice to Have

• Experience with PySpark and cloud-based data processing.
• Knowledge of machine learning concepts.
• Familiarity with data security and governance best practices.
