Job Description

About the Role

As a Senior Data Governance Analyst at BECU, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring that the data we rely on every day is accurate, trusted, and accessible. Your work will empower teams across the organization to make informed decisions that improve member service, operational efficiency, and business strategy. You'll build strong partnerships with data stewards, custodians, and business stakeholders, helping them understand, manage, and improve the quality of BECU's enterprise data assets. From cataloging critical data to establishing business rules and driving data quality initiatives, your expertise will directly influence how BECU uses data to drive growth and member impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion BECU's Data Governance Standards: Execute and uphold BECU's enterprise data governance standards, guidelines, and processes while ensuring compliance with regulatory and information protection requirements.
  • Build Strong Data Partnerships: Identify and engage key stakeholders, data stewards, and custodians to ensure a collaborative and comprehensive approach to managing enterprise data assets.
  • Lead Governance for Data Assets: Scope and define business area data assets—considering systems of entry, systems of record, and downstream data consumers—to ensure appropriate governance coverage.
  • Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Organize and lead virtual cross-functional teams to establish data governance objectives, prioritize initiatives, resolve issues, and make key decisions for enterprise data assets.
  • Assess and Profile Data Quality: Construct initial technical profiles for simple to moderately complex data assets, analyze data quality insights, and collaborate with stakeholders to identify improvement needs.
  • Develop Data Guidelines and Business Rules: Facilitate the creation of clear and actionable data guidelines, including business terminology, data classifications, and business rules that define data quality expectations.
  • Ensure Operational Alignment: Partner with data owners to ensure operational procedures align with established data standards and guidelines.
  • Catalog Enterprise Data Assets: Work with data stewards and custodians to document enterprise data assets, including business terms, data dictionaries, classifications, and lineage.
  • Drive Data Quality Issue Resolution: Identify, prioritize, and lead efforts to resolve governance and data quality issues in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Train and Empower Data Stewards: Deliver training and guidance on data governance controls to enable a self-service approach to data quality management.
  • Manage Data Governance Tools Access: Coordinate user access and permissions for Data Governance Office platforms.
  • Design and Improve Governance Processes: Participate in shaping and independently implementing enterprise data governance standards, objectives, and guidelines.
  • Support Enterprise Data Initiatives: Contribute expertise to key data governance projects and workstreams across the organization.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned to help advance BECU's data-driven decision-making culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data governance and/or data management with demonstrated application of data governance principles.
  • At least 2 years of experience using data visualization and reporting tools such as SAS, Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, or Alteryx.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with SQL and/or Python for querying and profiling structured datasets.
  • Solid understanding of technology platforms like SQL Server, Oracle, Azure DataLake, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Collibra, or Azure Purview.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, including data analysis, cleansing, manipulation, and anomaly detection in regulated environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to gather business requirements, document workflows, and lead projects independently.
  • Knowledge of data protection frameworks and security requirements.
  • Ability to navigate moderate ambiguity and influence stakeholders without direct authority.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree in a related field preferred.
  • Advanced working knowledge of marketing data sources including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics/Big Query, Fiserv, and SiteCore.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive salary range of $114,300.00-$139,700.00 annually, with a full range of $88,700.00 - $165,200.00.

  • Comprehensive employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Disability and AD&D insurance.
  • Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts.
  • 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan.
  • Paid time off (up to 160 hours annually) and ten paid holidays.
