About the Role

The Sr. Project Manager (Healthcare) is responsible for leading, managing, and coordinating multiyear projects related to critical systems and complex system integrations within the healthcare and health insurance industry. The role involves managing resources, schedules, risks, scope, and financials, ensuring quality and adherence to SDLC control guidelines throughout the project lifecycle. The position also contributes to process improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and participates in the Project Management Quality Excellence (PMQE) team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple complex and large projects simultaneously.
  • Drive project delivery from inception through production release including scope definition, requirements, development, testing, and release phases.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations to ensure ownership and success.
  • Conduct project planning activities with business and stakeholders to identify scope, desired outcomes, success factors, resource requirements, and implementation plans.
  • Proactively identify, track, and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Ensure overall project success by being accountable for all aspects and providing transparency.
  • Monitor and control project scope, ensuring proper change control procedures are followed.
  • Make and drive significant decisions impacting project delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date project documentation in compliance with enterprise standards and policies.
  • Provide high-level executive reports and detailed updates to stakeholders.
  • Guide and direct project team members to ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain effort estimates and detailed project plans for all phases.
  • Ensure projects proceed according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Partner with executive leadership to remove barriers to project success.
  • Provide strategic leadership for large-scale change initiatives.
  • Build and motivate project teams to meet goals and milestones.
  • Identify, track, and manage project costs.
  • Ensure availability of necessary resources for project completion.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and internal enhancements.
  • Perform other EPMO responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Masters preferred.
  • PMP or advanced project/program management certification required.
  • 10+ years' professional business experience, preferably in the Health Insurance industry.
  • 8+ years' experience managing large & highly complex projects, including 5+ years' experience in healthcare.
  • Ability to manage large-scale IT and non-IT projects involving significant risk.
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects and cross-functional teams simultaneously.
  • Ability to develop and manage multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Expert knowledge of project management practices.
  • Working knowledge of IT operations, systems engineering principles, Mainframe and Distributed systems, systems integration, Web services / eBusiness, and Application Development.
  • Experience with Waterfall SDLC methodology, preferably Agile/Scrum.
  • Proven ability to work in ambiguous environments and collaborate across multiple areas.
  • Decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and prioritizing.
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal, and presentation), and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with modern work management and collaboration tools, preferably Microfocus PPM.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools, specifically MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting roles and responsibilities.
  • Experience leading the work of outsource partners (multi-supplier environment) preferred.
