Job Description

About the Role

A Software Field Applications Engineer (FAE) at Broadcom serves as the technical lead for ethernet controllers and Network Interface Cards targeted towards Enterprise, Server & Storage, and AI/ML markets. The role involves assisting customers in qualifying and productizing Broadcom ethernet solutions, working on driver bring-up, optimizing performance, debugging, and supporting feature implementation. The position is part of the field applications engineering team within the sales organization, working closely with sales, engineering, and factory teams to promote Broadcom products and understand customer applications.

Key Responsibilities

Assist customers in qualifying and productizing Broadcom ethernet controllers and NIC solutions.
Work on driver bring-up in customer environments and optimize drivers for performance.
Help customers implement features such as RDMA, RoCEv2, and end-to-end congestion management.
Debug issues that are not functioning as expected and provide patches or workarounds.
Collaborate with Field Sales Engineers and marketing teams to increase demand for Broadcom controller products.
Understand customer applications to identify key technology and product features for next-generation products.
Work closely with engineering and factory applications teams to support product deployment and troubleshooting.

Requirements

8+ years of related experience in software or hardware engineering.
Strong coding skills in C/C++ and experience with driver development and embedded software development.
Background with RDMA, high-performance networking technologies such as RoCEv2 and Ethernet.
Knowledge of network architecture, topologies, and end-to-end congestion techniques.
Experience with debugging embedded software and Linux kernel networking.
Understanding of HPC and AI/ML data center operational models.
Ability to solve problems proactively, be self-motivated, and goal-oriented.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Deep knowledge of Linux kernel and Linux kernel networking.
Experience working with high-performance networking and data center environments.

Qualifications

8+ years of relevant experience in software or related fields.
Relevant experience in driver development, embedded software, or high-performance networking.
