Job Description

About the Role

The Sr Workday Adaptive Planning System Analyst role is part of the Workday Analytics and Planning team, which collaborates with business partners to utilize Workday's Analytics and Planning products for critical business questions. The role involves designing, developing, and implementing financial planning models within Workday Adaptive Planning to support organizational forecasting, budgeting, and strategic decision-making. The candidate will work closely with finance leadership, business customers, and data analytics team members to translate complex requirements into scalable planning solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model Development & Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain sophisticated financial planning, forecasting, and long-range planning models within Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • Process Optimization: Find opportunities to improve and streamline existing financial planning processes through automation and improved model design within Adaptive Planning.
  • Data Integration & Management: Ensure data integrity and accuracy within Adaptive Planning by developing and managing data integrations from various source systems.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Develop and maintain dynamic reports, dashboards, and visualizations within Adaptive Planning to deliver actionable insights to finance and business leaders. Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis as the need arises.
  • Collaboration & Customer Management: Partner closely with finance business partners, department heads, and executive leadership to understand planning requirements, gather feedback, and ensure models meet evolving business needs.
  • System Administration & Support: Provide ongoing support and administration for the Adaptive Planning environment.
  • Training & Documentation: Develop and deliver training materials for end-users on Adaptive Planning models and processes. Maintain comprehensive documentation of model design, processes, and data flows.
  • Best Practices & Innovation: Stay updated with Adaptive Planning standard processes, new features, and industry trends to continuously improve planning solutions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
  • 6+ years of significant, direct experience designing, building, and implementing planning models specifically within Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • 6+ years of experience in Adaptive Planning functionalities, including model building, formula creation (including complex calculations and logic), dimension management, data integration, reporting, and security.
  • 6+ years of consulting experience, with a track record of successfully managing complex projects and driving change.
  • Workday Adaptive Planning Certified.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and core accounting principles.
  • Proven experience in diagnosing business user's needs and developing tailored planning solutions.
  • Strong data management and data validation skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data manipulation and automation.

  • Workday Reporting Certification.
  • Workday Financials Certification.

Qualifications
