About the Role

The Staff Data Architecture lead at Dexcom Corporation will work closely with Manufacturing, R&D, and IT architect teams to establish and follow a consistent and effective data architecture approach based on Dexcom data strategy, regulatory expectations, and best practices. The role involves serving as a subject matter expert on data architecture, designing, developing, and implementing target-state enterprise data architecture, and ensuring security around cloud and data sharing while supporting metadata management and regulatory compliance. The position aims to support Dexcom's mission to improve health outcomes through innovative biosensing technology and data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards in conjunction with data users, data teams, partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Work with data leader and architects to design and maintain target-state data architecture, and associated requirements; proactively share data architecture best practices and expectations across Dexcom.
  • Lead architecture design for data platform(s), including evaluations of vendor platforms for strategic fit.
  • Oversee the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics to ensure data quality.
  • Provide technical recommendations and engage Architects, Business SMEs, and other stakeholders throughout the Data Architecture and implementation lifecycle, recommending effective solutions for scalable data solutions such as data marts, warehouses, and advanced analytics.
  • Address data-related problems related to systems integration, compatibility, and multi-platform integration.
  • Work with data governance lead to drive a single version of the truth, increasing trust and usage of enterprise data.
  • Document data architecture and environments to maintain an accurate view of the larger data picture.
  • Ensure data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Data Architecture, Data Strategy, and Roadmap for large and complex organizations and systems, with experience in large-scale Data Management & Analytics solutions.
  • Drive delivery in a matrixed environment working with various internal IT partners.
  • Expertise with normalized OLTP, MDM, and Data Warehouse Dimensional modeling techniques, including star and snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, role-playing dimensions, and data classification.
  • 5+ years of Google Cloud Platform experience.
  • Proficiency in evaluating data structures and systems for efficiency and scalability, including normalization (3NF) and denormalization.
  • Expertise in Data Quality, Data Profiling, Data Governance, Data Security, Metadata Management, MDM, Data Archival, and Data Migration strategies using appropriate tools.
  • Hands-on experience with open source software platforms and languages such as Java, Linux, Apache, Perl/Python/PHP, Chef.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL, ELT, streaming stacks (pub-sub, Kafka), Data Stream, Dataflow.
  • Experience with analytical tools, languages, or libraries.

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of DbT experience.
  • Experience in the medical device or FDA regulated space.
  • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineering, Cloud Architect certification.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 8-12 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 5-7 years of industry experience, or a PhD with 2-4 years of experience.
