About the Role

The Strategy Group Manager, SVP - Promotional Strategy at Citi is responsible for leading and managing the promotional strategy function within the USRB Product, Promotion and Partnership Strategy Team. The role involves shaping promotional strategies through insights, driving go-to-market initiatives, and collaborating across teams to ensure strategic alignment. The position requires a senior-level leader with extensive experience in strategy, project management, and banking, who can influence organizational change and deliver impactful business results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to the leadership team and addresses high impact strategic issues across its portfolio of businesses.
  • Work in close partnership with business heads and senior leadership to identify opportunities and issues of strategic importance.
  • Develop transformational strategies to grow and re-position businesses.
  • Drive change by partnering with business leadership with clear accountability.
  • Provide clarity in complex problems, facilitate decision-making, and guide high value investments.
  • Lead projects across their lifecycle: identifying and structuring the problem, analyzing root causes, developing solutions, communicating project results, and obtaining buy-in for change.
  • Manage all aspects of client service, including planning, prioritizing, and organizing projects.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with executives across the business.
  • Identify opportunities to add value beyond the scope of formal projects.
  • Contribute to continuous team improvement and management, including recruiting, coaching, and performance management.
  • Manage a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget, planning, performance evaluation, hiring, disciplinary actions, and budget approval.
  • Assess risk when making business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and safeguarding the firm's reputation.
  • Shape promotional strategy through insights by partnering with marketing and product leaders.
  • Own the end-to-end strategy and execution of high-impact initiatives in the promotional space.
  • Navigate ambiguity with confidence, manage multiple initiatives, anticipate risks, and maintain momentum.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships, lead meetings, resolve dependencies, and ensure alignment on strategic plans.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in people management.
  • Relevant experience in strategy consulting.
  • Previous project management experience including planning and execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound business judgment.
  • Ability to influence organizational change at senior levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience managing complex business operations with Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibility.
  • Good understanding of banking products.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership presence and ability to command respect from senior leaders.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities effectively.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in financial services or banking industry.
  • Experience with cross-functional team leadership.
  • Knowledge of promotional and marketing strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in people management and strategy consulting.
  • Experience in project planning and execution.
  • Profit and Loss management experience.
