About the Role

The Technical Application Specialist at Qualitrol is a senior position within the technology team responsible for driving the development of complete Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) and asset-specific monitoring market opportunities globally. The role requires expertise in power transformers and asset health monitoring, acting as the primary liaison with product managers, sales, and engineering teams to develop solutions based on assets or parameters for various industry segments. The position emphasizes influencing end-user specifications for Qualitrol's offerings and supporting sales through technical expertise, education, and standardization efforts. Based out of the Americas, the specialist will also represent Qualitrol at industry standards organizations and conferences, sharing best practices and customer success stories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish technical authority with customers and reinforce the Qualitrol brand.
  • Assist sales teams in technical specifications and responses for RFIs/RFQs.
  • Offer solutions-based seminars and presentations to address customer problems.
  • Provide strategic growth direction based on industry trends and standards.
  • Lead participation at industry standard organizations and conferences such as CIGRE, IEEE, IEC.
  • Represent Qualitrol's interests in standard associations and events.
  • Publish papers and application notes sharing best practices and customer success stories.
  • Drive growth in adjacent spaces, monitor the competitive landscape, and gather market intelligence.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal teams to influence processes.
  • Support the development of CBM solutions based on assets or parameters for utilities, industrial, and oil & gas segments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in electric power assets, sensing technologies, and industry standards.
  • Proven track record in integrating monitoring solutions, site installation, and testing.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Organized and analytical with the ability to translate solutions into customer value propositions.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (50-60%).
  • Active membership with IEEE, CIGRE, IEC; contribution to industry standards is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, highly technical environment.

  • Contribution to industry standards through memberships or publications.
  • Experience with site installation and testing of monitoring solutions.
  • Participation in conferences and industry organizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
