Technical Program Manager, Display Systems

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of display and optical modules and assemblies for AR displays and smart glasses, focusing on specification, design, manufacturing, testing, process optimization, and integration
• Manage projects with suppliers and partners, from developing statements of work to driving final deliverables in collaboration with Operations, Business Development, Legal, and Procurement
• Evaluate suppliers' capacity to meet product requirements and establish a robust and scalable supply chain strategy
• Operate at different levels of abstraction, from high-level strategic planning (system architecture, technology selection, organizational structure, commercial partnerships) to tactical project management (prioritization, schedule creation, milestone definition and execution, and deliverables management)
• Break down the complexity of technical programs to enable clear understanding of scope and deliverables to a wider audience of team members and support functions
• Proactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical, and communication issues and drive creative solutions to address them and manage risk
• Identify resources needed and work closely with team leaders to maintain full visibility of the project schedule and potential roadblocks
• Act as the main channel of communication for key formal discussions and decisions involving technical team leaders, support functions, external partners, and other organization members
• Travel domestically and internationally, 4-6 times per year

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Optics, Physics, Materials Science, or a similar field
• 8+ years of experience as a technical program manager or related role
• Experience with program management methodologies like Agile and Phase-gate approach, and tools such as Smartsheets and Gantt charts
• Experience leading and partnering with Asia-based vendors and contract manufacturers
• Demonstrated experience in cross-functional communication, authoring and presenting documents, and synthesizing information to advance initiatives

Nice to Have

• Experience in display technologies, optical components, ophthalmic lenses, optical coatings, optical test, and metrology
• Experience operating in medical devices or other highly regulated industries

Qualifications

• Educational background in Optics, Physics, Materials Science, or similar fields
• Extensive experience in technical program management and supply chain management

Benefits & Perks

• $167,000/year to $230,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
• Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location
