About the Role

If you enjoy engaging in high-profile projects supporting our U.S Naval Ships, Serco has a great opportunity for you! Serco is hiring a Technical Project Leader to be part of a dynamic team supporting our US Navy customer. You will work closely with the Navy and other Serco team members on-board U.S. Naval Ships located in Newport News, VA. Serco supports the US Navy to deliver outstanding work aboard Navy Ships, providing program-level assistance to Systems Integration & Installation programs to ensure deliverables and performance parameters are met. This role offers the chance to grow within a company supporting military defense and training sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate technical and administrative staff by assigning, scheduling, prioritizing, coordinating, and facilitating multiple tasks.
  • Evaluate performance of subcontractors and staff in terms of actual and planned task schedules and resource requirements.
  • Review work for quality assurance.
  • Provide direction on projects from inception through completion and provide technical and managerial assistance on all aspects of project management to comply with the technical requirements of the contract for the customer.
  • Compose memoranda, reports, and other documentation highlighting project steps and status for daily and weekly meetings with customer.
  • Attend meetings and make presentations about project status and work commitments.
  • Ensure training of all staff members and instruct them on customer's methods, procedures, and standards.
  • Evaluate, develop, or implement procedures regarding project documentation and development.
  • Track materials, submit and track fabrication requests and support services.
  • Monitor material deliveries and identify long lead material items.
  • Track Liaison Action Request (LARs) and provide Level of Effort (LOE) estimates.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and take corrective action.
  • Review employee schedules and time-cards.
  • Control Manning and provide input for additional manning requirements and/or manning deficiencies.
  • Reallocate personnel as needed to support various tasks.
  • Participate in long-range planning, analysis, and program design.
  • Manage various installations on multiple vessels from Task Award to Task Completion.
  • Review, modify, and provide updates to support Plan of Actions & Milestones (POA&M).
  • Maintain communication with task leads on staffing and material requirements.
  • Report possible changes and potential issues to PM that may affect cost and/or schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high School Diploma.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • A minimum of 8 years experience as an Alteration Installation Team (AIT) Lead supporting C5ISR installation on-board Naval vessels.
  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines with interruptions occurring regularly.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office products (including Microsoft Project) to use and create spreadsheets, reports, and presentations.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice to Have

  • An active Secret Clearance.
