About the Role

The Project Coordinator will coordinate and implement community-based substance misuse prevention strategies on behalf of the Project Alliance coalition. Project Alliance is a program of the Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC), serving multiple communities in Maine. The role involves facilitating coalition activities, managing program tasks, and performing administrative functions to support substance misuse prevention efforts. The position requires working independently, monitoring multiple projects, and engaging with diverse community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates administration of the Project Alliance Coalition, following SAMSHA's Strategic Prevention Framework, including implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of coalition efforts.
  • Works with the director, evaluator, and coalition members to develop needs assessments, goals, objectives, and strategies that support the reduction of risk factors and the enhancement of protective factors known to prevention/reduce substance use/misuse across the age span.
  • Builds community relationships and engagement to ensure twelve-sector community representation, including youth, for coalition membership to strengthen community readiness and capacity building and meet grant requirements.
  • Works with the director and coalition members, including youth, to organize and schedule various coalition events and meetings, including scheduling rooms, managing agendas, handouts, and minutes.
  • Collaborates with partners to recruit, train, and supervise youth involvement in coalition efforts.
  • Provides resources and technical assistance to coalition members, schools, businesses, and other organizations to raise awareness and promote evidence-based practices to support prevention efforts.
  • Participates in mandatory grant-related trainings.
  • Performs bookkeeping functions: processes financial documents, purchase orders, and business vouchers related to operating budgets, tracks budget expenses, and maintains financial records and reporting for grant-funded programs.
  • Organizes and maintains financial records and reporting for grant-funded programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline preferred, or 4-5 years of equivalent and relevant experience.
  • Proven success in leading efforts towards community collaboration, youth engagement, health promotion or community education, and project administration and coordination.
  • Experience working with diverse partners, including youth.
  • Effective facilitation and communication skills to motivate, engage, and implement activities with community partners, including youth.
  • Ability to develop new community relationships and work with a variety of stakeholders including youth, parents, schools, law enforcement, and other outside agencies.
  • Must be detail oriented, able to create project planning documentation, engage and delegate efforts, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to travel within the service area (northern York County) and occasionally outside for trainings.
  • Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Strong technology skills including email, texting, Microsoft Office (Excel & Word), Zoom, graphic design, and presentation software.
  • Ability to work with multi-ethnic and multi-age populations of all socio-economic strata, demonstrating cultural competency.
  • Current driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Provisional or Certified Prevention Specialist credential from the State of Maine, or willingness to obtain.
