Job Description

About the Role

Timmons Group is currently seeking an experienced Utility Network GIS Project Manager with the skills and experience necessary to be a strong team leader to join our Geospatial Utilities team in our Richmond, VA office. The successful candidate will efficiently and effectively organize projects, coordinate, and allocate resources, budget and track the logistics of projects, and deliver high quality results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide project leadership and foster a collaborative team environment
  • Interact with customers to understand business requirements and the project team to determine project scope, budget estimates, schedule, and deliverables
  • Ensure accuracy and delivery of plans and proposals
  • Maintain a solid understanding and demonstrated expertise in current technologies, system and process development methods
  • Function as primary point of contact for stakeholders
  • Responsible for all internal and external project status reporting
  • Develop, implement and lead projects through the full cycle from proposal to delivery
  • Coordinate and be available to travel frequently to client locations for onsite kickoff, progress, and deliverable meetings
  • Manage and coordinate GIS sub-consultant work
  • Oversee risk management, change control and quality control/assurance activities
  • Invoice assigned projects and provide projections to company leadership
  • Respond to customer inquiries professionally and promptly

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in the GIS or technical project management field and/or equivalent experience preferred
  • PMP Certification or ability to obtain certification preferred
  • Knowledge on GIS technologies preferred
  • Experience working with consulting firms
  • Experience managing software development projects is preferred
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of internal and external project stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and planning skills to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
  • Experience preparing and delivering reports, recommendations, or alternatives
  • Flexibility to determine the best project management practices and processes to employ
  • The ability to prepare, present, and explain complex technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Familiar with a variety of the GIS profession concepts, practices, and procedures

  • PMP Certification
  • Knowledge on GIS technologies
  • Experience managing software development projects
