Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Halozyme's Business Development efforts for the ENHANZE licensing franchise and our small and large volume auto-injectors.
  • Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and execute new ENHANZE, ENHANZE plus High-Volume Auto-Injector (HVAI), and Small Volume Auto-Injector (SVAI) business opportunities.
  • Lead and support strategic projects related to Halozyme strategy and growth.
  • Contribute to the development of business development strategies to grow the drug delivery business and support tactical execution with the leadership team.
  • Identify potential new collaborations through opportunity analyses, business meetings, and review of publications and data.
  • Develop and demonstrate technical knowledge of ENHANZE and device platforms.
  • Develop and implement plans to engage key collaborators and decision-makers, communicating compelling value propositions supported by technical and commercial analyses.
  • Negotiate CDA and MTA agreements to progress deal flow.
  • Advance deal negotiations, including drafting and internal alignment of Collaboration and Licensing Agreements, tracking issues, and building external agreements.
  • Develop deep knowledge of market landscapes, trends, product developments, trial outcomes, and company activity.
  • Update and present partnering materials to prospective partners.
  • Perform financial and market modeling in Excel and craft presentation slides to support strategy and business decisions.
  • Lead and maintain business development activities, including tracking, documentation, and reporting.
  • Support other internal strategic projects outside of ENHANZE/HVAI/SVAI as directed.
  • Collaborate with potential partners, deal sources, consultants, vendors, and others as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, quantitative, or life sciences field; with 18 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 12 years' experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech company or healthcare-focused consulting role.
  • Previous business development experience, including market assessments, financial modeling, business case development, and contract generation.
  • Proven success in identifying new business opportunities and supporting licensing agreements from start to close.
  • Strong business, negotiation, organizational, project management, analytical decision-making, and influence leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and biotech clinical development and regulatory processes.
  • Knowledge of medical device development and regulatory processes (preferred).
  • Deep network of connections across major pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
  • Experience with software such as Box, Intralinks Data Room systems, BioMed Tracker (or equivalent).
  • Creative and forward-thinking individual.
  • Quick learner who adapts to new situations, embraces ambiguity and change, and thrives in a fast-paced setting.

Nice to Have

  • Corporate accounts and direct selling experience.
  • Master's and/or PhD degree.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degrees (Master's, PhD) preferred.
  • At least 12 years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech or healthcare consulting.
