Job Description

About the Role

The Vice President & Director of Property Management Marketing reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer of The Inland Real Estate Group, LLC and leads marketing and development activities for the Group's property-management companies across both residential (approximately 70 percent) and retail/commercial (approximately 30 percent) portfolios. This person manages and grows a team of direct reports dedicated to property-management marketing, fully leveraging Inland's shared-services resources, and engages outside agency partners when warranted. They work closely with senior leadership in each property-management company to support strategic initiatives, establish KPIs, allocate resources, and craft marketing and development plans aligned with business objectives. The ideal candidate combines deep residential and retail property-management experience with data-driven marketing acumen and a collaborative leadership style.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy to maintain and enhance brand awareness and drive tenant retention and acquisition.
  • Implement data-driven marketing campaigns tailored to residential and retail audiences.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to refine marketing efforts.
  • Develop partnerships with industry stakeholders, local communities, and corporate entities to expand brand visibility.
  • Utilize platforms such as Yardi RentCafe, Property Capsule, Google Ads, Facebook Ad Manager, and ILS services like Apartments.com and Zillow to optimize performance and visibility.
  • Evaluate and refine SEO and paid-media strategies using Google Analytics and platform data.
  • Coordinate property-listing strategy and merchandising through visual asset platforms.
  • Monitor and manage online reputation management (ORM) at the property level to protect brand integrity and ensure timely tenant engagement.
  • Partner with property-management leadership to develop, market, and support third-party management strategies.
  • Serve as the marketing subject-matter expert during pitch presentations and oversee the creation of compelling RFP responses for new third-party property-management opportunities.
  • Collaborate with property-management leadership to develop repositioning strategies that maximize revenue, enhance tenant experience, and strengthen competitive positioning.
  • Leverage market research and financial analysis to guide data-driven decision-making and growth strategies.
  • Implement tenant-engagement programs that enhance the residential living experience and drive foot traffic to retail properties.
  • Develop community-outreach initiatives, loyalty programs, and events to build long-term tenant relationships.
  • Work closely with property-management teams to ensure marketing efforts align with tenant needs and operational goals.
  • Oversee the marketing and training support desk, collaborating with internal partners to deliver effective marketing and sales training at the property level for both residential and commercial teams.
  • Manage and grow an existing team of direct reports responsible for property-management marketing support, providing clear direction, professional development, and performance oversight.
  • Collaborate with operations, leasing, finance, and other stakeholders to align marketing and development strategies with corporate objectives.
  • Present marketing performance reports and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Real Estate, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing or business-development experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role within residential and retail/commercial property management.
  • Strong expertise in both residential and commercial retail property-management marketing, with a strategic understanding of tenant engagement.
  • Experience with key PropTech platforms including Yardi RentCafe, Property Capsule, and major ILS services such as Apartments.com and Zillow.
  • Relevant digital-marketing certifications (Google Ads, HubSpot, Meta, etc.) are a plus.
  • Proficiency with CRM/CMS and marketing-automation tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, WordPress.
  • Demonstrated success creating and executing branding, digital-marketing, and lead-generation strategies that drive measurable results.
  • Experience collaborating with leasing and property-management teams to optimize occupancy and revenue.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and presentation skills; comfortable acting as a marketing SME in high-stakes client meetings.
  • Ability to travel as required to support property teams and key business initiatives.

  • Third-party property-management marketing experience.
  • Experience with additional PropTech platforms or tools.
  • Additional relevant certifications in digital marketing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • MBA (preferred).
  • 10+ years of marketing or business-development experience.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role within residential and retail/commercial property management.
