Job Description

About the Role

This position is responsible for directing the university's communications and marketing functions utilizing the department's web-related strategies, social media and digital assets as well as website development and content management. The role involves managing digital platforms, ensuring ADA compliance, providing strategic marketing counsel, overseeing digital services and vendors, and leading web and social media initiatives to support the university's goals and branding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements digital platform communication, marketing and technical strategies for a three campus and online public higher education institution.
  • Evaluates assets and practices and coordinates with appropriate staff on the appearance, structure, content, navigability and usability of the university's web properties in accordance with ADA Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
  • Serves as the liaison with all relevant staff for web operations and content, including promotion, access and digital delivery of general and academic information, while monitoring compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
  • Provides strategic marketing counsel and leadership to university colleges and departments to enhance web page appearance, functionality and content.
  • Manages the implementation and content of outsourced services such as content management systems, web-based campus maps, web-monitoring services, web hosting, digital calendars, monitors, and billboards.
  • Oversees digital marketing agency vendor contracts for paid digital media advertising to boost visibility, increase lead generation, and maximize media spend.
  • Provides oversight of all direct reports including web and graphics coordinators, web accessibility coordinators, student workers, and support staff.
  • Develops and implements new digital marketing initiatives to meet university goals in collaboration with various departments.
  • Serves as the institution's web master and ensures ADA compliance across web and digital graphics.
  • Creates guidelines for website content, design, and functionality to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
  • Works with developers and designers to improve accessibility and address issues identified through audits.
  • Ensures all employees are trained in managing their web pages.
  • Develops and oversees web page content, marketing, initiatives, and module enhancements.
  • Provides creative direction for recruitment initiatives and develops messaging for distribution across media platforms.
  • Develops traffic-increase measures for the website and social media, and reviews quality and consistency of information.
  • Researches emerging website and social media trends and makes recommendations for future development.
  • Oversees and distributes monthly web and social media analytics reports.
  • Supports the VP of University Relations and support staff in coordinating events and managing expenditures.
  • Supervises and trains department personnel and performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of strategic communications and marketing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of university's content management system (CMS), project management software, licensing software, digital platforms software and strategic planning.
  • Understanding of ADA compliance and WCAG 2.1, Level AA standards.
  • Knowledge of fiscal management, website design, and marketing strategies.
  • Knowledge of information architecture and supervisory principles.
  • Skill in planning and implementing complex technological and communications projects.
  • Skill in delegation, decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal relations.
  • Skill in operation of computers and related software programs.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Experience sufficient to understand subordinate work, usually one to three years of related experience.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma.

  • Master's Degree in a related field.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and level of competency associated with a baccalaureate degree in a related occupational field.
