About the Role

HarperCollins Children's Books is seeking a Publicity Intern to join their team this spring. In this role, you will work closely with experienced publicists to create and execute campaigns for books across genres and age groups, including picture books, middle grade, and young adult. The Publicity Department collaborates internally with editorial, sales, and marketing teams, and externally with media outlets, influencers, and bookstores to promote the books and authors, supporting the launch and ongoing publicity efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general administrative duties, including processing mailings to media and booksellers and managing internal databases
  • Conduct media research across platforms such as MuckRack, media outlets, and social media
  • Pull book assets from internal databases
  • Manage and create promotional materials such as press kits, media pitches, and thematic round-ups
  • Support publicists with media outreach
  • Maintain accurate records of publicity efforts, data entry of media, and event bookings
  • Help organize and manage author media and tour schedules
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings
  • Attend internal meetings and select off-site author events

Requirements

  • Candidates must be available to work full-time in 2026 or 2027, including 21 hours per week across 3 or 4 days from February 9 to April 17, 2026
  • Open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master's students, or entry-level candidates with up to two years of work experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • A resume and cover letter are required; applications without a cover letter will not be considered
  • Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master's program
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with good judgment and discretion
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Interest in publicity, the book publishing industry, and children's books
  • Desire to learn, grow, and be successful
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • A strong knowledge of current industry trends

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or master's program
