About the Role

The Account Executive at PacificSource Health Plans is responsible for securing, building, and maintaining positive relationships with key constituents including groups, brokers, external vendors, and internal departments. The role involves assisting in benefit program development, participating in renewal processes, evaluating proposals, and actively seeking opportunities to sell additional services. The position supports large group accounts, both fully insured and self-funded, and aims to promote quality, cost-effective care and compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Sales Executive to ensure understanding of products and services sold to new PacificSource groups.
  • Communicate renewal information and coordinate with Sales Executive for renewals outside your block of business.
  • Negotiate renewals and complete documentation necessary for group implementation or renewal.
  • Consult with groups to inform them about products, administrative procedures, health strategies, and compliance requirements.
  • Serve as a resource for benefits, compliance, and plan information, ensuring clear communication among all stakeholders.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, share best practices, and identify potential issues for resolution.
  • Liaise with outside vendors providing services/products to groups, including pharmacy benefit managers, wellness programs, and benefit administration systems.
  • Develop strategic direction for employee benefit plans with groups and consultants, creating and executing roadmaps to meet group goals.
  • Present and review group reporting packages, identify trends, and propose actions to meet group objectives.
  • Lead implementation and renewal meetings, review plan documents, and ensure accuracy of plan materials.
  • Negotiate with brokers and groups for renewals, follow up on renewal status, and develop benefit quotes.
  • Determine reasons for group terminations and record information for review.
  • Participate in group enrollment, employee benefit meetings, wellness fairs, and new group orientations.
  • Address group issues promptly, serve as a contact for contract and claims issues, and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Represent PacificSource at community and professional events, including conferences and association meetings.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of experience in sales, account management, or employee benefits.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Current Life and Health Insurance License or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Thorough understanding of insurance products, contracts, and health insurance industry guidelines.
  • Knowledge of underwriting models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Public speaking and public relations skills.
  • Ability to explain plans and administration clearly to varying educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • High level of integrity, trust, resilience, and flexibility.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40-50%, including overnight stays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
