About the Role

An Account Executive at NRG Energy will be tasked with building sales through various channels, working internally with sales and origination teams while developing relationships with external customers. The role involves developing sales strategies, maintaining strong business relationships, and selling NRG products and services. Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of agreed sales targets in terms of overall gross margin, customer numbers, and energy volumes in the industrial and commercial market segment.
  • Establish a network of large commercial or industrial accounts within a particular territory.
  • Develop territory-specific sales strategies directed toward maximizing company objectives and goals.
  • Create new business through organized prospecting and networking to increase market penetration.
  • Track record of maintaining and developing relationships with direct customers.
  • Exceed assigned sales quotas consistently.
  • Remain current on the competition and market conditions.
  • Communicate with management about business challenges and expectations.
  • Create new ideas or strategies and deliver on them.
  • Utilize CRM (SFDC) to track prospecting, tasks, events, and future activities.
  • Provide weekly status updates to management including forecast and pipeline information.
  • Work collaboratively with employees across sales, marketing, sales operations, systems, credit, and product development teams.
  • Travel up to 50% to establish and maintain customer relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, management, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in direct/outside sales and marketing consultative selling.
  • Effective and efficient in using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with target account selling, solution selling, and managing various sales channels.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide insights for customers.
  • Strong commercial skills and proven ability to identify and close commodity transactions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen, especially in energy markets.

  • Established network of large commercial or industrial accounts in the electric utility or natural gas industry.
  • Knowledge of the changing power/gas market landscape and the impact of renewables.
  • Ability to educate customers on pricing and competitive advantages.
