About the Role

A fast-growing deep-tech startup offering a SaaS platform is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Account Manager to spearhead growth in the US and select European markets. The technology combines quantum methods with machine learning to enable R D operations at top companies and universities across energy, electronics, chemicals, and automotive sectors. The role involves developing the customer base and nurturing relationships within industry and academia, guiding clients through digital transformation in materials research using advanced Materials Science & Quantum Simulations technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key accounts in academia, industry, and research institutions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for account expansion and additional service adoption based on client needs and evolving research landscapes.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with clients to assess their ongoing needs, present new features, and discuss strategic alignment.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Success Engineer team to ensure seamless technical support and successful platform utilization by clients.
  • Drive new business development efforts by identifying, prospecting, and closing deals with potential clients in the materials science and computational chemistry sectors.
  • Lead technical presentations and product demonstrations to prospective customers, effectively articulating the value proposition of the platform.
  • Understand and address customer needs and pain points, proposing tailored solutions leveraging the simulation capabilities.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve sales targets and expand market share.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Gather market intelligence on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging customer needs to inform sales strategies and product development.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build brand awareness, network, and generate leads.
  • Provide valuable feedback from the market and customers to the product development and research teams.
  • Work closely with internal teams to align sales strategies with product capabilities and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Contribute to the development of sales materials, case studies, and proposals that highlight the platform's benefits.
  • Participate in internal team meetings and contribute to the overall success of the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics).
  • 2+ years of experience in account management, sales, or business development within a B2B SaaS or R D-related technology environment.
  • Familiarity with SaaS platforms and understanding of their value proposition.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing key accounts.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical solutions related to materials science, simulation, or scientific software.
  • Knowledge of complex scientific and technical concepts such as atomic-level simulations, molecular dynamics, quantum chemistry.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), Microsoft Office Suite, and collaboration platforms (e.g., Slack, Notion).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable engaging global stakeholders with strong cultural awareness.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a customer-centric approach.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for customer engagement in the US and abroad.
  • Ability to attend meetings early morning or late evening to collaborate with teams in Asia and Europe.

Nice to Have

  • Industry experience with materials, chemicals, automotive, or energy sectors.
  • Familiarity with atomic simulation, cheminformatics, scientific computing, computational chemistry, or scientific software/simulation tools.
  • Direct experience or strong understanding of computational chemistry methods such as molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo, quantum chemistry.
  • Network within the materials science, chemistry, or pharmaceutical industries.
