About the Role

The Integrated Innovation Institute (III) at Carnegie Mellon University seeks an adjunct professor for our Tech Venture Marketing for Engineers course during the spring 2026 term. This required course is part of the Engineering Design, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (EDIE) additional major for undergraduate students within the College of Engineering. The course covers key strategic and tactical marketing concepts tailored for engineers and high-tech innovations, aiming to equip technologists with a marketing perspective to achieve market adoption and sales growth. The final candidate will be available to teach in person, potentially during the work day from January to March or March to May 2026, with scheduling confirmed by August 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach the Tech Venture Marketing for Engineers course during the spring 2026 term.
  • Deliver course content covering product adoption life cycle, customer segmentation, strategic market planning, and tactical considerations for high-tech engineering products and innovations.
  • Mentor and engage with undergraduate students in the Engineering Design, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (EDIE) major.
  • Prepare and assess student coursework, assignments, and evaluations.
  • Participate in in-person teaching sessions, potentially during work hours from January to March or March to May 2026.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Interest in entrepreneurship, startups, or product development.
  • Basic understanding of product development and go-to-market strategies.
  • Experience in marketing technology products and digital marketing.
  • Proven ability to teach and mentor students with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in Pittsburgh for CMU in the United States for the fall term.
  • Resume/CV and a 1-2 page statement of interest or cover letter including teaching experience and perspective on teaching.

Nice to Have

  • Previous teaching experience.
