About the Role

The Advanced Software Engineer role involves providing reliable technical assistance to internal and external customers, focusing on PLC-controlled machines, subsystems, and control systems based on C/C++ programming languages. The position emphasizes accuracy, timely feedback, customer satisfaction, and development of technical support processes within a collaborative environment at Honeywell.

Identify, investigate, troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve technical issues
Track requests resolution
Debug software defects and analyze source code for proprietary material-handling controls systems
Create root cause analysis documents
Establish and follow methodologies
Develop and share knowledge
Provide technical training
Suggest enhancements to advance projects
Assist product and process certification
Develop technical and software improvements
Test and implement software changes
Present to leadership and external customers
Build business acumen while learning to address customers' technical needs

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
Ability to code in multiple languages
Advanced level troubleshooting skills
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Analytical skills and software development skills
Minimum 5 years professional experience
At least one year of experience programming PLC and/or troubleshooting PLC ladder logic
At least one year of experience programming C/C++ languages and/or troubleshooting controls systems software
At least one year of experience with SQL, creating queries, & data analysis and/or troubleshooting database issues
At least one year of experience reading, reviewing, and interpreting electrical schematics and network drawings
At least one year of customer support and/or customer facing experience

Nice to Have

Experience in the automation/material handling industry
Troubleshooting electrical and/or network issues
Programming and/or installing Panel View (HMI)
Programming and/or installing Allen-Bradley/Siemens/Modicon/Lenze PLCs
Programming and/or installing VFDs, electric motors, and sensing devices
Installing and/or configuring industrial networks such as Ethernet/EtherCAT/Profibus/Modbus/ControlNet/DeviceNet
Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices
Understanding various software development lifecycle
Experience with Knowledge Management & Call Center Management
Experience with Salesforce.com and SharePoint
Ability to influence cross-functional teams to deliver solutions

Qualifications
