About the Role

The Assistant Director of Websites at Gies College of Business is a key member of the marketing team responsible for managing, maintaining, and strategizing the college's websites. This role involves collaborating with marketing, design, and technical teams to ensure a user-friendly, high-performing online presence that supports recruitment, branding, and communication goals. The position reports to the Director of Marketing and plays a strategic role in shaping the college's digital footprint within the university and the broader higher education sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive website strategy for Gies web properties that aligns with the college's marketing and strategic objectives.
  • Define clear goals and KPIs for the websites, track progress, and make data-driven adjustments.
  • Manage website updates including text, images, videos, and layout using the college's CMS - Sitefinity.
  • Ensure website functionality through regular checks for broken links, errors, and outdated information.
  • Generate regular reports on website metrics, analyze data for trends and opportunities, and provide strategic insights to leadership.
  • Manage complex website projects such as redesigns, new features, or content migrations from planning to execution.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure project deliverables align with strategic goals.
  • Serve as the primary contact for website-related inquiries and technical requirements.
  • Provide training and support to content contributors on website best practices and CMS usage.
  • Collaborate with the tech team and university partners to stay updated on tools and standards.
  • Improve website usability, navigation, and user experience based on feedback and best practices.
  • Ensure website compliance with legal and accessibility standards, including WCAG guidelines.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and digital marketing strategies to recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Web Development, Information Technology, Media, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, website management, or digital marketing.
  • Basic understanding of web technologies including HTML and CSS.
  • Basic knowledge of UX and UI principles.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop.
  • Basic knowledge of website accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
  • Experience with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager) is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with web analytics tools and data interpretation.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful website strategies.
  • Proficiency in using Content Management Systems, specifically Sitefinity.
  • Experience in the higher education sector and understanding of its challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related professional experience.
