About the Role

The Collegiate Seminar Program at Saint Mary's College seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach in the BA in Leadership and Organizational Studies (BALOS) bachelor's degree completion program. The position involves teaching two hybrid courses focused on Western Tradition for Transfer Students, with responsibilities including course design, student support, and participation in faculty development activities. Key Responsibilities

Teach the courses Seminar 102A-01 Western Tradition I for Transfer Students and Seminar 102B-01 Western Tradition I for Transfer Students, following the program's common syllabus.
Hold regular office hours to support students outside of class.
Participate in faculty development activities such as workshops, class observations, and syllabus collaboration.
Design course content in accordance with program requirements.
Employ and build strategies of critical thinking, critical reading, and shared inquiry in course instruction.
Facilitate discussions and assessments related to texts from different time periods of the Western tradition.

Requirements

At least two years of experience teaching lower division GE courses or similar courses in the applicant's discipline at an accredited institution.
Experience as the instructor of record at SMC or equivalent courses elsewhere.
For outside applicants (non-BUFM), submission of evaluations, evidence of course development, and evidence of teaching excellence.
Minimum qualification includes relevant teaching experience; preferred qualification is a PhD.
