About the Role

The Associate Director (within Gilead's Liver Integrated Insights team) will be responsible for leading short-term forecasting & performance analysis for multiple brands. This role will contribute by managing projects of significant complexity requiring cross functional collaboration. The role will also participate in shaping the roadmap for the US Forecasting and Analytics function across business units. Based in Foster City, California, the position involves leveraging a broad and deep skill set to drive success across various stakeholders including VP, Business Unit Executive Leaders, Brand Marketing, US Market Access, Field Sales, Commercial Operations, Finance, Medical, and Global.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage market intelligence and cross-functional expertise to develop robust short- and mid-term (0-2 year) demand forecasts informing comprehensive revenue plans.
  • Analyze primary and secondary data to identify trends and pinpoint key risks, opportunities, and growth drivers for executive decision-making.
  • Lead performance analyses by conducting national-level reporting, reconciling results with forecasts, and driving continuous improvement in forecast accuracy.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to senior executives and partners.
  • Design and implement a performance management framework that links forecasts to strategic initiatives across Commercial, Marketing, Finance, and Manufacturing.
  • Lead development of data-based insights to inform brand and business unit strategy.
  • Conduct analytics to inform customer and consumer issues, including segmentation and treatment flow analytics.
  • Leverage data and analytics to develop key insights to inform brand strategy through the annual BPOA process.
  • Lead performance/KPI development and reporting to understand brand opportunities.
  • Collaborate with market research and field-force insights teams to integrate insights and guide business decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate new capabilities from the AI/Predictive Analytics Lab and leverage innovative analytical approaches.
  • Integrate insights from various sources to inform material decisions and consolidate data into actionable opportunities.
  • Provide objective quantitative analyses and develop business cases for key opportunities and critical issues.
  • Deliver presentations of findings and recommendations to leadership through various communication channels.
  • Engage with internal customers including VP, brand, marketing, and IT teams.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships within the Commercial organization.
  • Lead quarterly functional reviews with VP, Brand Leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Manage external consulting resources for project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and Ten Years' Experience.
  • OR Master's Degree and Eight Years' Experience.
  • OR PhD and Two Years' Experience.
  • Minimum of BA plus 10 years or MA plus 8 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company.
  • A firm grasp of complex forecasting and modeling techniques supporting strategic analytics.
  • Strong communication, influencing skills, and executive presence.
  • Ability to distill complex information and present persuasively to management.
  • Experience working on multiple projects with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical environment is desirable.
  • Solid understanding of principles related to the functional area.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., IMS, Symphony Health).
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant software systems (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Tableau, Databricks).
