Bloomberg Intelligence - Fertilizer Market Research Associate (Contract/Part Time - 12 months)

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and further develop a proprietary network to source fertilizer prices and market sentiment.
• Work within a pricing discovery process provided by Bloomberg, including use of data tracking tools to organize data and ensure transparency.
• Obtain current market prices and provide written market sentiment narratives on fertilizer products.
• Submit short-format articles of fertilizer industry news for publication following established processes, formats, and style.
• Lead production for Green Markets weekly market reporting in collaboration with the production team.
• Contribute to BI's research activities, including data analysis, written research, and idea generation.
• Pull, clean, and organize large datasets using Excel, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Continuously assess data quality, identify errors or inconsistencies, and evaluate data relevance.
• Develop and manage relationships with internal departments and external users.
• Synthesize data analysis results into concise narratives that communicate the story behind the data.
• Collaborate with other data and core business groups to improve content and functionality across the terminal.
• Interact with clients via online messaging systems.
• Participate in department-wide special projects.

Requirements

• Graduated with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; a degree in finance, mathematics, economics, or a similar field with a heavy emphasis on computer programming is preferred.
• At least two years of research experience with genuine curiosity about developing a career in research.
• Proficiency in Excel for handling large datasets, cleaning data, and performing complex analyses.
• Ability to spot anomalies in financial data, think critically about data insights, and identify inconsistencies.
• Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of collaboration.
• High attention to detail and strong research and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects.
• Ability to meet deadlines, logically approach problems, and prioritize tasks.
• A commitment to enhancing and developing products.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice to Have

• Fertilizer or broader agriculture industry experience.
• Progress toward or achievement of CFA designation.
• A Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, MBA, or related discipline.
• Previous work experience with the Bloomberg Terminal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• Research experience of at least two years.
