BloombergNEF US Solar Analyst

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Become an expert on the US solar market, with a focus on residential and commercial segments.
• Research, analyze, and write about developments in the sector including supply chain evolution, policy impacts, regional market dynamics, bankability of solar components, and the US corporate PPA market.
• Partner with analysts domestically and internationally on quantitative analysis and market sizing.
• Monitor changes and trends in solar module pricing, policy, regulatory, and financing environments.
• Use data effectively to forecast build estimates or capital raised by residential solar financiers.
• Speak with industry figures and BloombergNEF clients to gather insights and opinions.
• Present and discuss BloombergNEF research with authority during client visits or at conferences.
• Build reputation in the industry through independent research and peer learning.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences, engineering, economics, policy, or finance, or a strong willingness to learn with a quantitative background.
• Demonstrated interest in and passion for the renewable energy industry.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, summarizing, and reasoning skills.
• Fluent English and outstanding communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Ability to learn quickly and be a resourceful self-starter.
• Keen attention to detail while working efficiently and managing multiple tasks.
• Ability to think critically, develop thoughtful opinions, identify key patterns in data, and ask insightful questions.
• Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing data in Excel and Python.

Nice to Have

• Understanding of renewable energy technology or policy.
• Experience working on data projects and using analytical tools such as SQL or Python.
• Passion for clean energy or climate action.
• Prior experience analyzing residential and commercial solar markets, energy policies, or corporate renewable demand.
• Ability to speak another language fluently, particularly Spanish or Mandarin.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
• Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with data analysis tools.
