The Chief Marketing Officer, Optum Insight & Optum Financial, reports to the Chief Marketing & Customer Officer and leads client product marketing, sales enablement, and integrated marketing campaigns to support client acquisition and retention for the Optum Insight and Optum Financial benefits, product portfolio, and market segments. This role also leads member engagement programs, business and product-specific marketing campaigns, segment campaigns for bundled products, and sales materials, with a focus on driving patient and member engagement, brand transitions, and creating national marketing platforms. The position impacts the strategic direction for an optimal patient experience across all touchpoints and offers remote work flexibility within the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

  • Models positive, admirable leadership behaviors that foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, focusing on developing talent and bringing out the best in people.
  • Leads the development of an overall marketing strategy that drives profitable growth.
  • Builds investment strategy for advertising to grow the direct-to-consumer Optum Marketplace into a multi-billion dollar business segment.
  • Executes customer and business priorities through an end-to-end approach to improve customer experience and industry-leading Net Promoter Score (NPS).
  • Manages development and execution of new enrollment and retention strategies across business lines to meet targets and performance goals.
  • Oversees all aspects of the marketing mix including advertising, direct response marketing, promotion, creative development, collateral development and production, digital strategies (websites, social media), and market research.
  • Leads diverse teams across the country with both direct and indirect reporting relationships and supports traditional sales teams to meet growth and retention goals.
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies and plans for Optum Insight and Optum Financial, including specific markets and service lines.
  • Assists in product and market positioning, go-to-market, and launch strategies.
  • Leads omni-channel campaigns utilizing best-in-class campaign management and measurement tools, leveraging content to drive personalization and extend reach.
  • Manages large, complex budgets across diverse market segments.
  • Develops and enforces brand standards across business units to ensure consistency and brand integrity.
  • Serves as a catalyst for innovation and actively seeks new ways to grow and improve marketing efforts.
  • Establishes and achieves measurement standards for all marketing activities, including financial goals, ROI, and reporting.
  • Leads and supports external vendor relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 15+ years of broad-based marketing experience including leadership of client and consumer marketing strategy, branding, advertising, communications, and digital marketing.
  • 10+ years of team leadership experience.
  • Broad-based knowledge and results in leading marketing within a large, matrix organization.
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically, shaping, teaching, influencing, and delivering on targets.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, maintaining respect and relationships across the organization.
  • High organizational agility to handle large-scale change programs and navigate complex situations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills to shape opinions, overcome objections, and influence others.
  • Solid personal communication skills and ability to build collaborative relationships across disciplines.
  • Experience in developing and implementing new systems, programs, techniques, and procedures with a track record of achieving financial goals.
  • Demonstrated business management ability with strategies that drive measurable results.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and lead others through change in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Healthcare or Financial Services Marketing experience.
  • Master's degree in Marketing or Business Administration.
  • Based in Eden Prairie, MN.
