About the Role

The PPR Red Jacket position is a temporary/seasonal role from the beginning of the high school football season to the Silver Pigskin Gala (mid-August to December). It honors individuals who demonstrate dedication to San Diego high school football, requiring commitment to Friday night games and storytelling through digital and social media platforms. There are two types of Red Jackets: PPR Video Producer/Editor and PPR Content Creators, both focused on capturing and sharing compelling football stories and engaging local communities.

Key Responsibilities

Create compelling, UX-Focused content related to San Diego High School football news, events, and topics relevant to the local audience and beyond, including text stories, photos/graphics, breaking news stories, and social media elements.
Engage and build loyalty among communities by serving as a liaison to PPR Papa Pig (Paul Rudy) in the studio to ensure digital and social dominance.
Work with KUSI's Content Directors (Digital Team) to distribute high interest stories at scale following content guidelines.
Shoot, produce, direct, and edit games in multiple formats including highlight montages, interviews, and full game coverage.
Edit different versions of source videos optimized for various social platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.

Requirements

Experience developing and publishing content on digital and social platforms is preferred.
Experience in shooting and editing video content.
Interest in digital publishing and storytelling.
Excellent writing and storytelling skills with good judgment of high school football news.
Knowledge of social media, football, pop culture, and current events.
Experience editing unscripted web content, montages, comedic clips, interviews, and football games.
Great attention to detail and copy editing skills.
Ability to thrive under deadline pressure.
Stellar communication skills.
Must be punctual and willing to learn quickly.
Must be available every Friday night from August to December.
Must possess a clean driving record.
For videography positions: HD quality video gear and sports experience.

Nice to Have

Experience shooting/editing unscripted content for on-air broadcast and digital platforms.

Qualifications

Experience in digital content development and publishing.
Experience in shooting and editing video content.

Compensation of $17.25/hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.
