About the Role

Located in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland, Market Hall Foods is a family of businesses that includes Market Hall Foods, markethallfoods.com, Market Hall Bakery, Market Hall Produce, Market Hall Caterers, The Pasta Shop Fresh Pasta, and Cactus Taqueria. The person in the role of Content Marketing Specialist would be a part of a small Marketing & Communications team whose primary focus is to develop innovative, effective and informative marketing approaches. Our goal is to deepen customer relationships, increase sales, and boost customer retention while sharing our love and passion for specialty ingredients, eating and cooking! This role is responsible for the day-to-day development of digital and print content for the Market Hall Foods family of businesses. This role is heavily weighted toward digital content, like email newsletters, social media, blog posts and other online content, but you'll also create menus, posters, in-store signage and lots of other marketing materials.

Key Responsibilities

Write weekly newsletters
Proactively collect information from internal stakeholders to help inform marketing initiatives
Learn our brand voice to write, edit, produce and maintain content for the Market Hall Foods family of websites, social media, digital and printed marketing materials
Develop content for social media, develop video content for social media, website and Google Ads
Generate ideas, take photographs, write copy and execute posts
Strategize, write and publish blog posts
Maintain the websites for the Market Hall Foods family of businesses: rockridgemarkethall.com, markethallcaterers.com, pastashopfresh.com and cactustaqueria.com; support maintenance of online ordering platforms
Post event listings, update menus and key basic information
Maintain key basic customer-facing information on Google and Yelp pages for all lines of businesses
Answer questions or otherwise engage with or follow up with customers when necessary via email, social media, Google or Yelp
Support marketing team in identifying new opportunities to reach customers, problem solve and grow the overall business
Track and report relevant metrics
Assist Marketing Manager with special projects
Attend special weekend events when needed

Requirements

Excellent writer with superior grammar, spelling, proofreading and editing skills
Must be able to proactively research and fact-check
Tech savvy - very comfortable with social media platforms, Microsoft Office products and Google Docs
Strong attention to detail
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced workplace
Strong time management skills, multitask among multiple projects and teams when needed
Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
A strong curiosity about food
3-5 years of relevant work experience
Must be able to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time and lift 25 lbs

Nice to Have

Retail or restaurant experience—especially in the specialty food industry
Experience with CMS systems (Joomla a plus)
Basic HTML knowledge
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (Preferred)
Marketing: 3 years (Required)
Content creation: 3 years (Required)
