About the Role

The Content Strategy Manager, Lifestyle, reports to the Director of Content Strategy and is responsible for shaping the content approach for Hearst Magazines' brands, Country Living and The Pioneer Woman. The role involves developing and executing SEO strategies, collaborating with editorial teams, analyzing performance data, and supporting audience engagement initiatives. The team fosters a collaborative, innovative, and supportive culture focused on bold, original work and redefining media engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the SEO strategy for both brands, focusing on growing high-value engagement and conversion such as affiliate commerce, newsletter signups, and memberships.
  • Collaborate with editorial leaders to develop and refine daily, weekly, and monthly content plans that generate meaningful engagement across site, newsletters, and social/video platforms.
  • Monitor industry trends and real-time news to identify timely and relevant content opportunities, backed by audience insights.
  • Translate performance data into clear, actionable strategies across commerce, subscriptions, and audience development.
  • Use tools like Google Analytics, Looker, SEMrush, SimilarWeb, and others to assess performance, identify gaps, and develop testable experiments.
  • Facilitate ongoing SEO and content strategy training across teams and act as an internal ambassador for best practices.
  • Lead regular cross-functional meetings to share insights, track experiments, and celebrate wins with editors and leadership.
  • Partner with stakeholders across affiliate commerce, ad sales, product, engineering, and marketing to support new initiatives and refine existing strategies.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in content strategy, with a focus on both technical and editorial SEO.
  • Proficiency with SEO tools and analytics platforms, including Google Discover, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEMrush.
  • Comfortable working with data and turning insights into content strategies.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative and inclusive mindset.
  • A growth-oriented approach and curiosity about digital audience behaviors.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with AI tools and platforms for content optimization.
  • Knowledge of affiliate commerce and/or membership strategy.
  • Coding experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
