About the Role

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing projects from planning through closing and ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering unparalleled service. Provides overall project management support for assigned projects under the direction of the Senior Project Manager. Ensures the safe and on-time delivery of high-quality installation services to the customer while managing schedule, productivity, and budget that align with the contract documents. The role is within Black Box, a trusted IT solutions provider committed to social responsibility, diversity, and growth, working on high-profile projects globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow Safe Work Practices that conform with the Company's Safety Program and client worksite policies to ensure that every person on the team stays accident free every day.
  • Promote company core values to foster and safeguard company culture.
  • Participate in the RFP processes, completing detailed reviews of plans, specifications, and bid packages.
  • Review contracts, work orders, and purchase orders to understand contractual requirements and ensure scope of work aligns with estimates and contract documents.
  • Cultivate and maintain customer relationships to secure and expand business opportunities.
  • Provide initial client interface to assess scope of work and schedule projects accordingly.
  • Develop and organize project plans including workforce, materials, equipment, and subcontractors under supervision.
  • Work with field operations to ensure proper materials, equipment, and workforce are available.
  • Manage project scheduling to control costs and meet contractual requirements.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, streamline project activities, and communicate updates to staff and management.
  • Participate in project meetings, communicate progress, and prepare job costing reports.
  • Work with project engineers, coordinators, and superintendents on RFIs and change order requests.
  • Monitor installation activities to ensure productivity aligns with schedule and budget, ensuring work conforms with contract documents.
  • Partner with QA/QC to ensure quality plan requirements are met.
  • Manage job costs and schedules, coordinate with customer and craft teams, and communicate project updates.
  • Attend all required meetings and serve as an ambassador for the company.
  • Coordinate with project team members to develop and deliver correct submittals on time.
  • Manage customer acceptance and signoff.

Requirements

  • Proficient in leveraging information and data to make informed decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety protocols, processes, and procedures.
  • Deep understanding of industry-specific estimating and engineering best practices.
  • Ability to identify change events and implement change management practices.
  • Knowledge of construction technology platforms, quality, and safety standards.
  • Solid understanding of construction accounting principles and cost forecasting.
  • Ability to develop and manage project schedules.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including customer service.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and adapt to changing requirements positively.
  • Disciplined, detail-oriented, organized, and self-driven.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Procore, Textura, and other industry applications.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline, or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry in a management or leadership role.
  • Experience managing large structured cabling projects and/or data center construction projects preferred.
  • Experience managing various contracting and project delivery methods such as lump sum, cost plus, GMP, design-build, etc.
  • Preferred certifications: OSHA-30 Hour, BICSI RCDD, BICSI RTPM, PMI PMP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline (or relevant experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction management or leadership roles.
