About the Role

The role of Data Governance Analyst reports to the Head of Nikko America's Data Management and Analytics Group and supports the implementation of the Enterprise Data Governance Framework to improve data availability and trustworthiness for SMBC Nikko Securities America, Inc. and SMBC Capital Markets, Inc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying and documenting Key Data Elements used in regulatory reports such as CFTC Capital Calculation, CAT / CAIS, FINRA Trace, FR2052a, FRY9C, Reg. YY, etc.
  • Working closely with stakeholders to understand business processes, IT architecture, data flows, and documenting system of records, Data Owners, Key Data Elements attributes, and Data Lineage.
  • Participating in the design and testing of data quality rules with Data Owners for each Key Data Element.
  • Maintaining the Business Glossary and report inventory, including regulatory and non-regulatory reports.
  • Capturing data quality issues reported by stakeholders and inputting detailed information into the Data Quality Incident Management system.
  • Producing and monitoring Data Quality KPIs.
  • Supporting Root Cause analysis when data quality issues are identified or processes do not work as expected.
  • Documenting business requirements for future system or workflow enhancements and relating these to the Data Governance framework.
  • Working with data consumers to understand the source, creation process, and purpose of data.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in requirement gathering, documenting functional specifications, designing testing scripts, conducting data analysis, and gap analysis with Data Owners and stakeholders.
  • Competency in using project management and task management tools such as MS Project.
  • Ability to present project plans, milestones, achievements, and solutions clearly and concisely.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, strong accountability, and collaboration skills.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in Data Governance within a Financial Institution, focusing on data requirements, data quality rules, and issue tracking.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics/statistics, finance, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Knowledge of SQL and Collibra is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint), MS Project, and Visio.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI or Tableau is required.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, mathematics/statistics, or finance.
