About the Role

This position plays a key role in the marketing department and is responsible for developing innovative and engaging online marketing campaigns. Under the direction of the Senior Marketing Manager, this position will build and execute a strategy that generates traction, engagement, and sales across various digital channels. The role involves creating and curating content tailored for the Zoo's unique online audience, with a focus on storytelling, engagement, and converting followers into customers. The ideal candidate is passionate, proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, and collaborative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Senior Marketing Manager to develop quarterly digital content strategies that align with organizational goals, campaigns, and seasonal priorities.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and trends in digital media to enhance audience engagement and drive measurable results.
  • Ensure strategies are cohesive across platforms including social media, email, blogs, web, and video.
  • Manage the Zoo's email marketing, including content strategy, copywriting, editing, design, scheduling, and performance tracking for email campaigns.
  • Write and edit copy for press releases, media advisories, event announcements, blog articles, feature stories, conservation updates, advertising copy, web content, and promotional materials.
  • Act as the first line of quality control for all digital content developed by marketing coordinators, including copy-editing, fact-checking, and reviewing for brand voice, tone, grammar, accessibility, and accuracy.
  • Lead the execution of the Zoo's social media presence.
  • Photograph and shoot videos of various park assets including animals, gardens, events, and guest interactions.
  • Update and optimize the Zoo's photo and video library.
  • Stay up to date on online trends, habits, and behaviors to inform digital content and strategy recommendations.
  • Gather and track social analytics data and deliver regular reports on social media activities.
  • Field requests from internal departments and propose solutions aligned with digital marketing strategy and business initiatives.
  • Serve as a Zoo ambassador for community events, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in marketing, writing, or content creation with a strong portfolio.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities with audience-specific messaging skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media channels, developing campaigns, and producing multimedia content.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of strategic communications and trends.
  • Willingness to learn and try new things.
  • Photography, videography, and editing skills are a plus.
