About the Role

The Digital Publishing Associate provides business analysis and project management support for assigned projects in the Digital Publishing Department and backup support for other members of the Digital Publishing team. The role also involves analyzing the Publications Division's digital products and services to ensure management has the necessary information to assess performance, product enhancements, and new product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide business analysis and project management support for assigned projects in Digital Publishing.
  • Serve as liaison to external partners and vendors working with Digital Publishing as needed for assigned projects and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to analyze processes and tools, identify problems and opportunities, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions.
  • Work with Publishing Data and Technology Manager to develop and maintain data collection and reporting tools as needed.
  • Generate routine analytics reports for the Publications Division to monitor the performance of AACR's journals, including site traffic, article usage, citations, search engine ranking, social media trends, and email campaign performance.
  • Perform ad hoc data analysis to identify and interpret trends and address stakeholder inquiries.
  • Develop business and functional requirements to support the selection and implementation of solutions.
  • Manage projects, develop project plans, and monitor project performance.
  • Develop and execute test plans.
  • Provide backup to other Digital Publishing positions, including web page maintenance and email marketing.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in scholarly communication and publishing; scientific, technical, or medical publishing preferred.
  • Experience in data analysis, business analysis, and project management.
  • Experience with tools and methods used for obtaining, storing, managing, analyzing, reporting, and presenting data.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations, communicate effectively, and resolve issues.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience writing business and functional requirements.
  • Experience writing and managing test plans.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and collaborate with colleagues internally and externally.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work with them to identify solutions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and competency in Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with Google Analytics reporting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar business intelligence tools is desirable.
  • Familiarity with bibliometric data sources such as PubMed, Crossref, Web of Science, Dimensions, etc., is a plus.
  • Knowledge of website tools and HTML is preferred.
  • Education and Training: Bachelor's degree.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Familiarity with bibliometric data sources such as PubMed, Crossref, Web of Science, Dimensions, etc.
